Location Mirbeau Inn & Spa is located in the storybook Village of Skaneateles (skinny-AT-liss) in central New York’s Finger Lakes Region, about 20 miles southwest of Syracuse and 60 miles southeast of Rochester. The unique Spa resort is set on 10 acres of forested parkland, in the midst of a dense stand of 100-foot high spruce trees near Skaneateles Lake, one of the cleanest and most picturesque lakes in America. Skaneateles Village is located directly on the north shore of beautiful Skaneateles Lake, providing magnificent scenery and an unparalleled setting for hikes and peaceful strolls. Perhaps the most beautiful of all of New York’s Finger Lakes, Skaneateles is one of the five long narrow, and deep glacier-formed lakes in Central New York. Quaint, tree-lined streets border elegant well-preserved 19th century homes, restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, art galleries and parks. Description Mirbeau Inn & Spa is a 34-room luxury Spa Resort combining the amenities of a boutique country inn, world-class spa, nationally acclaimed fine dining, all with the elegant comforts and residential feel of a wine country estate. The Inn and Spa consists of six buildings clustered around beautifully landscaped ponds and impressionist gardens. The exterior architecture, interior décor and landscape design are reminiscent of an old world French Country Estate. Accommodations The Inn includes 34 guest rooms, 18 located on two residential floors set over the 14,000 square-foot, world-class spa, with the remainder of the rooms located in four romantic cottages. All guest rooms feature a cozy fireplace and oversized bathrooms equipped with walk-in showers, soaking tubs and double sinks. Inn guest rooms are available with one king or two queen beds. Rooms on the first floor all offer patios. The four Mirbeau Cottages each contain four private cottage guest rooms. The Cottages surround one side of the garden and pond area and are terraced into the hillside. Each Cottage room features a large bedroom with a cozy sitting area next to the fireplace and the spacious Mirbeau signature bathroom. Design Mirbeau Inn & Spa is designed to evoke the warmth and comfort of a French wine country estate. Skaneateles-based architect Andrew J. Ramsgard and Linda Dower, our interior designer have created buildings with an old-world style and a wonderful casual elegance inside and out, taking full advantage of the wooded surroundings and the water that flows through the property. The chateau-like Inn and Spa building and four freestanding cottages curve gracefully around the beautiful French impressionist gardens and ponds creating a Monet landscape. In fact, the gardens are patterned after Monet’s own famous gardens at Giverny, near Paris The name “Mirbeau”, which may be loosely translated as “reflected beauty,” is inspired, in part, by the soft light and warm colors of Monet’s paintings. Mirbeau’s architecture, interior design and gardens are all designated to echo the natural beauty of its surroundings. Dining at Giverny, Mirbeau's Award Winning Restaurant Giverny, Mirbeau's Dining Room, with its beamed ceiling and Provencal-style table settings, offer Chef Ed Moro’s Mirbeau Estate Cuisine. Chef Moro hand-selects the freshest and most flavorful ingredients including farm fresh eggs, organic and heirloom produce, trout and bass from neighboring lakes and local farm-raised poultry, lamb, pork and venison as well as specially selected items from around the world. The wine list features the finest American and French selections, including special vintages selected from the surrounding Finger Lakes region. Giverny has earned a national reputation for its unique "Tasting Menu" and a Four Diamond rating by AAA as well as Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence". Spa Mirbeau The 14,000 square foot luxury Spa is designed especially to offer a protected place of elegance and comfort. The nationally known Skaneateles Music Festival is a summer highlight, as are nearby wine-tasting tours. In winter, guests enjoy cross-country skiing and ice-skating. Several excellent ski areas are within an hour’s drive for both downhill skiing and snowboarding. A highlighted event in November and December is the Village of Skaneateles “Dickens Christmas” celebration. This timeless pageant is reenacted throughout the Village with carolers and story characters in period costumes and horse-drawn carriage rides. Management Mirbeau Inn & Spa was developed by Skaneateles residents and partners Gary L. Dower and Linda M. Dower. Spa and hotel consultants Sylvia Sepielli and Thad Hyland worked with the management team to create Mirbeau as a flagship property for a projected series of Mirbeau Inn & Spa resorts to open throughout the eastern United States. |
